Boehringer Ingelheim donates £50,000 to Hounds for Heroes
Boehringer Ingelheim has donated a whopping £50,000 to the assistance dog charity Hounds for Heroes, following a number of fundraising initiatives by the company.
The money was raised in an on-pack promotion which saw Boehringer, the makers of the number one veterinary support supplement for cats and dogs1 Seraquin®, pledge money to the charity for every pack sold. In addition to this £20,000 donation, a further £30,000 was raised during the company’s ‘Chronic Care Lectures’ – educational seminars attended by 700 vets from across the UK during February and March.
“We have been overwhelmed by the support from both vets and pet owners in our bid to raise funds for this inspirational charity,” comments Rob Lucy, Seraquin brand manager at Boehringer Ingelheim. “Our donation will help make a real difference to the lives of injured or disabled people from the UK armed forces and civilian emergency services and we are delighted to continue the partnership between Boehringer and Hounds for Heroes in 2014.”
Allen Parton, founder and vice-chairman of Hounds for Heroes, adds: “It costs us £20,000 to buy, train and support an assistance dog throughout its life, so a donation of this kind will go a long way to enhance the quality of life of our clients.”
