Burgess Hill Lions
In June 2010 Burgess Hill Lions presented Hounds for Heroes one of the biggest donation received in the early set up days. They had been collecting and sending books out to a library at Camp Bastian, Afghanistan. Sadly due to the need for more stowage space at the camp the library had to close so the remaining books were sold off and Hounds received £1000 from the sales. This donation was soon followed by an invitation for Allen Parton with faithful EJ at his side to be the guest speaker at the 56th CHARTER ANNIVERSARY DINNER DANCE held at Crowne Plaza Gatwick-Crawley Hotel new friendships made and further pledges of support to the charity strengthened. At this years Lions South East Convention in Chichester held on Saturday 4th February Allen was asked to address over 70 Lions Clubs from the South East of England about the work of Hounds for Heroes. Following on from this presentation the Hounds for heroes team were delighted to host over 30 members from the Lions at the Ramsdean HQ and received a cheque for £10,000 from District Governor Frank Lees Members of just a few of those clubs, namely Cranleigh, Dartford, Midhurst, Chichester, Adur East, Paddock Wood, Gillingham, Crowborough, Leatherhead and Caterham Oxted and Godstone Lions came to Ramsdean for a tour of our HQ, an insight into the life of a Puppy Parent, a snapshot of our training classes and an in depth Q&A session with Allen and the team. We’re truly grateful to all the Lions of Sussex, Surrey and Kent who have taken Hounds for Heroes to their hearts, and so far this year raised over well over £10,000 for us.
