Earlier on in the year Hounds for Heroes were privileged to be chosen as the beneficiaries of a concert performed by the Band of RAF College Cranwell. Well over £850 was raised through a retiring collection on the evening. During a two day visit to RAF Cranwell last week Allen, EJ and Rookie seized upon the opportunity to meet up with the members of the band and thank them personally, as he was unable to attend in person due to prior commitments. The charity was though represented on the evening of the concert by our chairman of trustees Julian Forth and his wife Marjorie who had an incredibly enjoyable evening.
Allen said “I really do enjoy having the opportunity to thank our supporters personally for their support and steal that odd team photo or two. There is no doubt in my mind that Hounds for Heroes’ success is down to so many supporters standing staunchly shoulder to shoulder with us, enabling us to create life enhancing partnerships with our dogs.”
Our webmaster Sqn Ldr Wayne Palmer who was commissioned at RAF Cranwell shared with me on seeing this image “The College band plays at the officer graduation parades. I am transported back to 15th Dec 1988 when they played the Lincolnshire poacher at my graduation” such is the emotional power and effect of music performed by military bands.
