Solent Overlord show
We are proud to have been chosen as the charity of the year for the second consecutive year by Solent Overlord. This year, the Overlord show celebrated the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Codenamed Operation Overlord, on 6th June 1944 the Allies launched what was the largest combined naval, air and land invasion in history. Over 156,000 men from 12 countries landed on or behind one of five beachheads named Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword.
With over 300 military vehicles and 30 reenactors from the Great War through to modern day, the Solent Overlord Show was a great day out for vehicle enthusiasts and history buffs. The timetable included a re-enactment of the Normandy Landings, artillery and mortar demonstrations, The Royal Marines Cadet Drill Team, Tracked vehicle and WW11 parades. Each show day closed with the Last Post.
