Our application process is open to all serving or previously served HM Armed Forces and the Emergency Services personnel who have become physically disabled due to illness or injury either service or non service attributable.
At Hounds for Heroes, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the independence, confidence and sense of camaraderie that comes with having a specially trained assistance dog by their side.
We provide highly trained assistance dogs to individuals who have served in HM Armed Forces or the Emergency Services and who are facing physical challenges as a result of illness or injury. Our dogs are not just companions – they are life-changing partners, helping to support everyday tasks, promote a more active lifestyle, and offer invaluable emotional support.
Our assistance dogs are trained to assist with a wide range of tasks, including opening doors, picking up dropped items, supporting balance, and providing emotional comfort. These dogs play a vital role in helping recipients regain their independence and lead more fulfilling lives. We understand the unique challenges faced by our service personnel, which is why we aim to match each individual with a dog that can meet their specific needs.
To ensure that cost is never a barrier, Hounds for Heroes fully funds the working lives of our dogs, covering all aspects of their training, care, and support.
Who Can Apply: We offer assistance to individuals who are current or former members of HM Armed Forces or the Emergency Services, and who are living with a physical disability caused by illness or injury either service or non service attributable. If you meet these criteria and believe you could benefit from a Hounds for Heroes dog, we encourage you to apply.
Please note we are unable to accept applications from those whose primary reason for applying relates to mental and emotional disabilities, for example PTSD.
